Dear Mr. Groobert,

I am writing as the director of economic development for the city of Asheville, North Carolina. My team and I have reviewed your intention to relocate your esteemed company and employees to a new city. Thus, we would like to provide you with more information on Asheville and how it can provide more than Bloomington, Indiana.

First, I would like to express my appreciation for your service to this country. It is always an honor to have a veteran-owned business like yours considering our city.

Living in an environment where you and your employees can have a sense of belonging seems to be important to you. In Asheville, we are known for our thriving veteran community. As the U.S. Census reports, our city is home to 5,896 veterans, whereas only 2,489 veterans chose to live in Bloomington, Indiana. Asheville's larger veteran Community provides a sense of camaraderie that can also work as a support system. Our veterans can significantly ease the transition for your employees by offering them a local network of peers who understand their experiences and values.

Asheville also has a strong entrepreneurial spirit with the U.S. Census showing that our city has 4,332 businesses, in comparison to Bloomington's 1,675. Beyond the numbers, this entrepreneurial spirit signifies a hub of innovation, collaboration, and economic stability that can lead to more opportunities for your company.

On top of that, the census reports that 248 of our businesses are owned by veterans like yourself. You cannot find this extensive network of understanding and support for you and your employees in Bloomington though, as they are only home to 70 veteran-owned businesses.

Having a network of individuals who understand the challenges of owning a business as a veteran can be another source of support. This group of Veteran owned businesses creates an environment that promotes the overall well-being and sense of belonging for everyone involved.

We also understand that a significant amount of your employees are nearing retirement age, so the city you moved to will need to have a strong workforce. According to the census data, 63.7% of Asheville's population is active in the workforce, while Bloomington only has 57.3%.

A larger percentage of the population being in the workforce allows you to have a larger pool of potential employees to choose from once their employees decide to retire. A larger selection range also allows you to pick from workers with a diverse range of skills and expertise to best suit the needs of your company.

By relocating to our city, we can significantly contribute to an overall higher quality of life for your employees too, as our weather can potentially enhance overall happiness and well-being. A study from the National Library of Medicine shows that harsher weather conditions, like an abundance of rain and snow, tend to harm a person's mental well-being.

According to the U.S. Climate Data, Asheville gets an average of 36.99 inches of rain and 13 inches of snow. They also report that Bloomington gets more of this weather, with an average of 47.36 inches of rain and 16 inches of snow. With Asheville's nicer weather, you and your employees will be able to spend more time outside, which can help with mental health and clarity.

In addition to these statistics, Asheville offers a vibrant cultural scene, picturesque natural surroundings, and a thriving arts community, all of which contribute to an exceptional quality of life for your employees. With our commitment to veterans, the economic advantages, and the enhanced quality of life, I believe that Asheville should stand out as an exceptional choice for your company's next chapter.

I understand that this may leave you with a lot to consider, so I've included some other information about the personal benefits of living in asheville, as well as information on how DRG Technology Consulting can benefit. Please feel free to reach out at 740-274-0304 with any questions or thoughts you may have. we would be delighted to provide you with more details and assist with the relocation process.

We look forward to the possibility of welcoming your company to our city and contributing to your continued success.

Sincerely,

Hayden Rivard
