Letters to the Editor

The Wall Street Journal

To the Editor:

I am writing regarding your article “Is This the End of College as We Know It?” published on Nov. 12. I applaud the exploration of the changing face of higher education, but propose that the benefits and opportunities should have been further discussed.

Understanding that change does not always equate to failure is crucial when analyzing this trend. Even if the story is informative, it might use a more fair examination of the advantages that fould arise from new forms of learning. We are on the cusp of a new chapter in education which is why it would’ve been good to show that this trend can bring more creativity and flexibility.

The traditional college standard is clearly divarsifying rather than disappearing, shown by the rise of alternative learning models, apprenticeships, and skills focused education. We can better equip our workforce to meet the demands of a fast evolving global economy by embracing this transformation.

I urge The Wall Street Journal to investigate the positive aspects brought by the transformation of higher education. Through this, we can give readers a deeper understanding of the dynamic future that lies ahead.

Sincerely,

Hayden Rivard
